A Paper Folding Tribute to Van Gogh's Almond Blossoms

This origami sculpture is my personal tribute to Vincent van Gogh’s masterpiece, Almond Blossoms. To capture the essence of Van Gogh’s legendary style, I integrated intricate, hand-folded paper swirls into the composition. In his paintings, these swirls represent energy and movement. In this piece, they bridge the gap between order and chaos. Van Gogh’s work is famously turbulent and heavy with emotion—it is beautifully messy. By translating his thick, expressive brushstrokes into crisp origami folds, I wanted to capture that exact paradox. The dynamic, spiraling paper mimics the wind-swept energy of The Starry Night while grounding the delicate, fragile beauty of the blossoming tree. It is a celebration of motion, texture, and the beauty found within structured chaos.
